I completed my M.D. degree in 1978 at New York Medical College. I went on to do a Pediatrics Internship at Geisinger Medical Center, Adult Psychiatry Residency at Long Island Jewish-Hillside Hospital, and a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at New York Medical College Metropolitan Hospital. I completed several years at the NYU Psychoanalytic Institute. As a result of my involvement in school psychiatry over the past 25 years, I am currently enrolled in a Master's program in Educational Leadership.
I currently consult to over 35 school districts in Nassau and Suffolk Counties, in addition to Westchester County. My school mental health consultation services include:

Individual psychiatric evaluations of students for purposes of threat assessment, school refusal, decline in academic functioning, behavioral issues and suspensions, and suicidality.

Providing recommendations to both school districts and families for optimal psychiatric and psychological interventions for students struggling with mental health issues

Assisting schools with decisions regarding optimal educational placements of students

Consultation to school district’s Committee on Special Education

Assisting school district’s communication with local mental health agencies and psychiatric hospitals

Providing school districts with professional development for staff members, including teachers, nurses, guidance counselors, social workers and psychologists.

Providing parent workshops for school districts on topics related to child development, parenting practices, and mental health issues in children and teenagers.
